* IMPACT WITH JUPITER *
========================
JPL's Galileo spacecraft is scheduled to observe 16 of the 21 possible
impacts of the fragments of Comet Shoemaker-Levy-9 with Jupiter this July,
according to project scientist Dr. Torrence Johnson. Galileo is scheduled
to observe 16 of the 21 possible impacts of the fragments of Comet
Shoemaker-Levy-9 with Jupiter this July.
Galileo, however, won't be alone in keeping its eyes on Jupiter. Although
the Galileo spacecraft will be in the best position to view Comet
Shoemaker-Levy-9's impact with Jupiter, Voyager 2 and the Ulysses spacecraft
will record various measurements from the event.
On its way out of the solar system, Voyager 2 will be heading south, about
6 billion kilometers (3.7 billion miles) from Jupiter, and will have the
comet's impact sites in its line of sight. The spacecraft will observe with
its ultraviolet spectrometer and planetary radio astronomy instrument, and
numerical data will be returned in real time.
The Ulysses spacecraft, on its way to explore the sun's polar regions, will
be able to make measurements of radio and plasma waves from the comet's
impact from its position at about 75 degrees south of the sun's equator and
about 800 million kilometers (500 million miles) from Jupiter.
JPL's Deep Space Network facility at Goldstone, California will perform
radio astronomy on the synchrotron emission from Jupiter's radiation belt,
looking for disturbances caused by Shoemaker-Levy dust.

* MIR NEWS *
============
Progress M-23 docked with the Mir complex at 0618 UTC on May 24. The EO-15
commander and flight engineer, Viktor Afanas'ev and Yuriy Usachyov, will be
replaced this month by the EO-16 crew, Yuriy Malenchenko and Talgat
Musabaev, who will be launched on the Soyuz TM-19 ferry ship on June 20.
Physician-cosmonaut Valeriy Polyakov will remain aboard Mir. Both
Malenchenko, a Russian Air Force cosmonaut, and Musabaev, a Kazakh Space
Agency cosmonaut, will be on their first flights.

==============
JH0OTM in Japan reports getting a strong return downlink from AMSAT-OSCAR-10
on 13-Jun-94 at 23:30 UTC. The beacon carrier on 145.810 MHz was also
strong at a range of 23000 km. With signals from AO-10 steadily improving,
JH0OTM is looking forward to making contacts via AO-10's Mode B transponder.
* DOVE NEWS *

I believe that the information posted in r.radio.space is in the form of
Keplerian data and the stsplus software uses 2-line element sets. While
these contain essentially the same data, the format is different.
However, the version of the software I have contains an option to
manually input the Kep data from the posted listing and it (the
software) builds the 2-line element set. I can't remember offhand just
what version I have......
Someone who uses this stuff regularily can probably give a better
explaination.....

This may be a dumb question, but I'll ask it anyhow...
Is there a mod to allow me to transmit below 440MHz
(ie. 430 - 440)? I know FM is not used below 440MHz
but AO-21's uplink freq is in that range.
Thanx for any help.

Eddie

Problem: Can't get CAT control to work
I have connected the CAT control from CN4 pins 2 (inverted TTL)
and 5 (GND). Now and then the radio goes into CAT mode but it
won't trak the frequency right. Are there any quirks to get it
working properly?
If you have a similar configuration please write and tell me
about how it works for you.
